Is working as a Drywall Finisher & Plaster for you?

  • Are you detailed oriented and have good hand-eye coordination?
  • Do you like working with your hands and have a sense of pride in your accomplishments.
  • Are you interested in working with latest technology in construction tools and materials?
  • Can you work in all weather elements and dust?
  • Can you work off a ladder or scaffold at least 5 feet high?

If you answered yes to most of these questions, working as a
Drywall Finisher & Plaster may be for you!


What are the minimum requirements?
You must be at least 16 years old with proof of grade 10 Math and English education in Canada or a proven Canadian equivalency transcript.

What do I need to get started?
Visit the training centre between hours of 8:30 -3:30 Mon-Fri to set up an appointment for your application. Please bring the following documents with you, Birth Certificate or your landed immigrant papers/Permanent Resident Card, Social Insurance Card, Picture ID-Passport, Valid Drivers License, High School Diploma OSSGD/Canadian equivalency or high school transcript.

At your appointment you will be given an application to fill out and an aptitude test. (Strong math and communication skills are essential to successfully complete this test)

What happens after I pass the aptitude test?
Upon achieving a passing grade from the aptitude test, we will then schedule an appointment for a personal interview with an Instructor from the appropriate trade along with our Industry Apprentice Liaison. You will be notified if you have been accepted.

How do I reserve my seat for the Basic Class?
Class registration is based on a first response, first reserved basis along with a $600.00 and ($770 for EIFS course) course fee payable to IFSTC by cash, cheque or money order. This money serves as a commitment assurance from you. However, minimum seats are available for each class due to apprentices that are out in the working field and qualify with over 900 hours. These individuals will receive first priority to reserve their seats, and then will we accept new apprentices.

 I was unsuccessful passing the aptitude test, can I challenge it again?
Yes!
You can make an appointment to rewrite the aptitude test after 4 months.
